In the 1980s Neve Tzedek was a neighborhood to be destroyed by the Tel Aviv city council. The area was devastated, old and in very bad shape. In the last minute, the Tel Aviv city council decided to restore the entire area because of the very high value of its historical properties. The neighborhood was saved, and soon restoration began. The Tel Aviv city council restoration project was so successful that soon enough Neve Tzedke began to flourish. New businesses, boutiques, boutique hotels, cultural centers and leisure places started to open and flourish. Naturally, the real estate business began to flourish as well and prices started to rise.
It is a rare phenomenon to witness the growth of a neighborhood's prices without knowing when this rise will stop. In natural economy rules, every high has a low and so forth. Yet, Neve Tzedek has maintained high prices and has stuck to its reputation of being a neighborhood of nouveau bourgeoisie, style, bohemia and luxury.
